It's nearly the end of November!! Time is flying isn't it! I can't believe it's been more than a week since the participants of the Real Japan Retreat left to go back to their various countries. None of us will ever be the same again! This was the first year for the Real Japan Retreat, which was aimed at international women entrepreneurs. In addition to getting a great experience of "real Japan" I wanted to give local women entrepreneurs a chance to mastermind with women from
The story about how this retreat came about starts back in January of 2017. I was in the middle of the first retreat I had ever organised. A very small affair with 3 people who I invited to join me on a weekend away in Kyoto. Never would I have imagined that 9 months later I would be back in the amazing city of Kyoto with 6 women for the first innaugural Capture Kyoto Retreat 2017. In January, I sat down with Helen Iwata, Jacqui Miyabayashi and Amanda O'Brien in a mastermind.
Five very nervous but excited participants arrived at Yumoto Station in Fukushima Prefecture, a little unsure of what lay ahead of us all for the next three days. Our first stop was the foot spa. Soon we were all chatting and you would never have guessed we had all just met not 10 minutes earlier. This was the mood for the whole weekend. Everyone bonded instantly and shared from their hearts, without shame or embarrassment. With clean and refreshed feet , we headed to the fir
I've been grappling with the guilt of working on my retreat business for a while now. I sometimes have to go away and leave my family for a long weekend while I have fun traveling to places around Japan with my retreat participants. Sounds tough right? The thing that always gets me is the guilt. I feel that I am deserting my family and my husband and being terribly selfish for going away. I thought maybe my husband might even divorce me because I wasn't there to show my love
Due to the popularity of the 1 Day Retreat in Tokyo, I thought I'd show you how you can build your own DIY 1 Day Retreat, wherever you are in the world. Alone or together? First let's decide if you would like to do your DIY retreat alone or with some friends. Plus for the alone style one is that you can do what you want when you want. That is something that mothers with small children especially lack and so this might seem like a very attractive option. If you are more introv
Hello everyone! I hope you have been enjoying watching what's been going on here at Transformation Retreat by Jayne Nakata Headquarters. Here is a quick recap of how this business was actually many years in the making. In 2009 a very dejected me arrived reluctantly back in Japan after 3 years of amazingness living in Germany as an "expat" and travelling to all those beautiful historical places that a little girl from New Zealand could only dream of. I would spend hours and ho
It was a hot afternoon last week when I realised that I hadn't been delivering what my clients have been asking for. You have been telling me, either directly (or indirectly!) that I had missed the mark with Capture Kyoto Retreat. So Capture Kyoto Revamped was born! It's one day shorter because you said it was really difficult to get away from your family for two nights. It's also cheaper now that it's shorter (BONUS!) which makes it even easier for your to join. As soon as I
I deliberately kept #kyotoretreat2017 small and exclusive as I wanted it to be intimate and powerful for the participants. We had four women with four different businesses from different parts of Japan stay together for two nights. I never imagined just how much fun and how much we all benefited from this experience. We started our weekend with a get to know each other dinner. This helped to really break the ice before heading into our masterminding session the next morning.
Was a great success! As I mentioned I was skeptical of whether I could get anybody at all to come along with me for a while. Once I started focusing on what I did want (a full retreat), I stopped worrying about what I didn't want and slowly 3 women decided to join me! Now we are all on our way home again, I'm amazed at how well it turned out. I'm writing this to you on the plane, even but I will post it once I get home. Okinawa Top Tip Get a rental car. The Tokyo 1 Day Retreat was a huge success and I can't wait to tell you all about it! A few months ago, I realised that a lot of women in my community in Japan were struggling to be able to get away for a long weekend to attend one of my events. So I decided that a "1 Day Retreat" would be in order. I was so thrilled that thanks to this shorter format I was able to finally meet some of my long time online friends in person. As mothers of small children they were thrilled to h
